Sou·ve·nir: a thing that is kept as a reminder of a person, place, or event. contradicting, true, or false a souvenir to support your view of a place is out there.
The souvenir tee humorously critiques the irony of the souvenir industry. It features various personas visiting the Holy Land: a Christian walking where Christ walked on water, a Muslim at the Dome of the Rock, or a Jew exploring ancient Canaan and the kingdom of David. There is a souvenir to support every narrative.
The front design incorporates the word "danger" from an electricity hazard sign, the ornament frame from iconic Israeli tuna packaging, and a typographic title incorporating both Palestine and Israel into one to reflect the conflicting narratives of the region.
The back design showcases logos representing both well-known and lesser-known locations in Israel. Each logo is paired with imagery that reflects opposing or personal memories associated with these places. For instance, Qalansawe, an Arab town in Israel's HaSharon area, is known among Israelis for affordable car repairs. Tel Aviv features a parody of the Remax logo, highlighting its skyrocketing real estate prices. Lod, infamous for high drug use and crime, is symbolized with a spoon and lighter. Gaza is represented by an adaptation of the "Nesher" cement logo, symbolizing both construction in Israel and tunnel building in Gaza. Underneath the logo units, there is a travel warning shared on the UK official website.
